"That's What Friends Are For"
This Friendship Realm will offer
many wonderful and beautiful poetry regarding friendship.
Here is a guide to what is here:
What is A Friend?
Many of us use the term "friend"
very casually but there are levels and stages of friendship and to say
"That person is a friend" is sometimes very misleading.
Do we mean that that person is just
an acquaintance or is something a lot more? So, what is a friend?
The dictionary describes a friend as:
1a) One attached to another by affection or esteem.
1b) acquaintance
2a) one that is not hostile
The dictionary had a few more descriptions
but they were not related to what this realm is about.
Some other words we use:
FRIEND - to act as a friend of: befriend
FRIENDLILY - in a friendly manner
FRIENDLY (FRIENDLIER) - relating to, or befitting a friend as
a) showing kindly interest and goodwill;
b) not hostile
c) inclined to favor
d) cheerful, comforting
FRIENDLY one that is friendly, a native who is friendly to settlers or
invaders
FRIENDSHIP - 1) the state of being friends
2) the quality or state of being friendly
Are there levels of friendship?
I believe that you can see the differences in variety and levels by the
above descriptions.
This not only clarifies that there is a wide variety of classifications
of friends but also levels of friendship.
Some friends are mere acquaintances
and others are the life time type. So be sure when you call someone a friend-
you specify which sort of friend they are.
